Abstract | Each year, the Community College of Rhode Island attempts to measure its success in helping students enter the workforce or transfer to a university by surveying the previous year's graduates. This report presents survey statistics for the class of 2000 (response rate 80.5%, n=1,073). Highlights include: (1) 637 graduates were employed full time and 255 part time; (2) 411 graduates were continuing their education, more than half on a full-time basis; (3) 42% were attending Rhode Island College and 18% the University of Rhode Island; (4) 162 business administration graduates made an average salary of $32,444 per year; (5) 60 computer studies graduates made an average salary of $35,521 per year; (6) 18 dental hygiene graduates made an average of $46,974 per year; (7) 108 human services graduates, many of whom became teachers, made an average of $25,923 per year; (8) 238 liberal arts graduates made an average of $32,398 per year; (9) average engineering and technology graduate salaries have increased $7,966 since 1998, to $39,238; and (10) total degrees and certificates awarded by the college in 1999-2000 was 1,333, a decrease of 387 from 1994-1995. Salaries and job titles obtained are listed for each of the college's 28 programs. Appended are the survey and several comparative graphs. (EMH) |
