Abstract | With this publication, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission presents its third study of instructional costs in the public colleges and universities in Tennessee. The basic unit of measurement used in the commisssion's instructional cost study is the student credit hour. Professional salaries, support salaries, operating expenses, and equipment charges are allocated to the student credit hour so as to yield costs per hour by: (1) academic program, (2) course level, and (3) institution. Section 1 of this report analyzes costs per student hour for the fall term of 1973. Section 2 compares costs for the fall terms of 1971 and 1973. Section 3 contains detailed cost tables. Appendix A contains a description of data collected and procedures utilized in calculating costs. (Author/KE) |
