| Abstract | U.S. Office of Education grants for 1972 in the field of environmental education are described briefly in this pamphlet. Grants were awarded in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Micronesia to promote a better understanding of the environment, the Nation's environmental problems, and the options for enhancing the quality of the environment. Funded under the Environmental Education Act of 1970 (P.L. 91-516), the 162 grants, totaling approximately three million dollars, were made to public and private non-profit organizations, including local school systems, institutions of higher education, and citizen groups for pilot projects in environmental education. The compilation lists each project individually by state and identifies its complete title, name of director, address and telephone number, amount of funds awarded, and presents a short description of the project and/or project objectives.
