Abstract | The project ... investigated self-regulation and mathematical problem solving [with focus] on the students. Based on a theoretical model of self-regulation, a six-week training programme for students from grade 5 to 8 was developed and evaluated. Self-regulatory competencies improved most when they were taught in combination with problem-solving strategies. These effects were amplified when the parents were included in the training. Additionally, self-regulated learning as well as the use of mathematical problem-solving strategies could already be successfully taught to students at the primary school level. These findings illustrate that such programmes should be integrated into the curriculum. (DIPF/Orig.). |
