Abstract | Within the literature in social psychology applied to school, the notion of goals as well as their influence on academic performances are largely focused on a cognitive dimension of goals (which consists in being better than others or in improving ones knowledge) rather than on social dimension (which consists in being accepted by others) . In consequence, the aim of this current article is to show how social goals are important at school. More specifically, notion of social goals will be defined, their measurement will be described and their influence on performances as well as their determinants will be exposed and discussed regarded with the literature and our researchers.
