Abstract | This executive summary gives brief information about the crucial part played by European cities, towns and regions in the implementation process of lifelong learning. It uses the work done by the Socrates TELS (Towards a European Learning Society) project as a Case Study to help understanding of the concept of the "Learning City" and its implications for people and organisations in municipalities throughout the continent. It precedes a fuller report giving a detailed outline of the components and domains of a Learning City identified and studied by the project. It proposes strong recommendations both for the Commission and for localities. (DIPF/orig.). |
