Abstract | Within this study, the effect of a mediation program on conflict behavior of teachers was examined. Both, self-ratings of teachers and data from behavior observations were collected and compared before and after the implementation of a mediation program. It was found that teachers overestimated their social competence in conflict situations and that such programs did not produce more realistic self-ratings. The mediation program increased - to a small extent - socially competent behavior by teachers in the classroom, although not socially competent behavior was observed much more often. Within discussions, the reasons for the effectiveness of mediation programs and methodological problems were outlined. (DIPF/Orig.). |
