Abstract | Practices of "mediation" have been developing in the last twenty years in the public sector as elements of both public service modernization and conflict management in public meetings which are able to avoid contentious procedures. French National Education does not avoid this trend, and mediators have been appointed in every academy since the beginning of the 1999 school year. This article focuses on the characteristics of their role beginning with a description of the most distinctive features of the group of school mediators. The aim is to highlight the different aspects of their role and thus the institutional legitimacy they can claim - but not without a struggle. (DIPF/orig). |
