Abstract	The use of online learning platforms in higher education is constantly increasing, a development which can also be observed in the area of university foreign language courses. This trend raises questions concerning, on the one hand, the suitability of Blended Learning formats, combining face-to-face and online teaching, for language courses, and, on the other hand, the requirements which trainings preparing teachers for delivering lessons online have to meet. Didactic questions, such as what criteria of good online teaching are and how they relate to criteria of good face-to-face teaching, have not yet been fully answered, either. This paper presents and discusses results of an interview study focussing on the teachers' perspective regarding these questions. The teachers involved in the study teach Blended Learning language courses at the language centre of the University of Bonn. The findings may be used by educational institutions employing or planning to introduce Blended Learning formats. Furthermore, the paper provides hypotheses for future research on Blended Learning.
