Abstract | In Austria the long-range development of the Higher-Technical-Schools (HTL) were influenced by the educational expansion, technological change, and demographic development (birth rate, migration). First the author discusses and reflects this special variant of a vocational school as part of the dynamics of the educational system. The questions of preparation at schools, the quota of degrees are effecting the actual concepts of education (comprehensive schooling, equality of opportunities and advancement of migrant-children). These arguments are followed by explaining the Higher-Technical-Schools as schools based on specialized technical theories and practice and its relevance for the professional work or studies. As the HTL grants a unique European Engineer-Diploma after five years of study and proved practice before the entrance questions of comparability are to be questioned. (DIPF/Orig.). |
