AbstractAim of the study is to assess the project works and application processes in science education of 6th, 7th and 8th grades in primary education upon teachers' perspectives. The research was fulfilled upon the descriptive survey model to collect data. Participants of the research were 90 teachers, having project management experience in science education, from 24 primary schools in 7 districts randomly chosen in the city of Istanbul in Turkey. Data of the research were collected by using a semi-constructed interview form offered to teachers during the 2005-2006 schooling year. Through the research, it was found that 46.7% of the participant teachers asked their students to prepare science projects just once a year for the project contests. It was also seen that most of the project topics were designated by being inspired from the topics of previously made projects. It was detected that internet is the mostly used source to obtain information. For the teachers, the most common difficulty is about the selection of project topics. The most common difficulty faced about students was their poor time management in making science projects. For the participant teachers, science projects mainly enable students to develop their creative thinking skills. (Contains 12 tables.) (As Provided).
