Abstract | This article discusses the practice "Welcome to My Neighborhood," an exchange program for students attending primary schools. The practice targets younger students in providing positive experiences of learning and playing together with children from different backgrounds. Children interact with children outside their own school, neighborhood, and social and ethnic group. The exchange program builds relationships and aims to improve social skills, in particular to reduce discomfort in dealing with children from different backgrounds. The practice takes place over a one-year period and is grounded in the "real life" of children in their neighborhoods and city. (ERIC). |
