Abstract | Gender inequalities in education are very apparent. Young women are overrepresented in educational training and in the school-based training and correspondingly underrepresented in the dual training courses. Gender segmentation in professional education continues to exist. Women are overrepresented in the service sector, while men are in disproportionate numbers in manufacturing. These gender inequalities should give an idea of the challenges to educational policy making in the 21st century. In this article, the author explains gender mainstreaming and discusses gender mainstreaming in education policy making. [This report was translated by Stephen D. Naron.] (Contains 1 footnote.)
