Abstract | Many struggling readers detest homework. Some cannot do it. Others will not do it. Poor grades and emotionally draining parent-child, teacher-child, and parent-teacher conflict are common by-products, stressing all involved. By working collaboratively with teachers, other school professionals, and parents and by working directly with struggling readers, counselors can help remedy struggling readers' homework difficulties. This article describes how elementary school counselors can work with teachers, parents, and struggling readers to resolve these homework difficulties. (Author). |
