Abstract | Describes teacher education degree programs in universities throughout Canada's four western provinces, focusing on the instrumentalist approach to pre-service education at one university and noting initiatives for training aboriginal and Hutterian teachers. Guidelines from a new provincial government indicate a movement toward a more dialectic reflection-in-action approach to teacher education. (SM) |
