AbstractSurveyed parents in the Rockford School District 205, Illinois, to determine why they withdrew their children from the schools after implementation of the controlled choice mandated school desegregation plan. Parents left for reasons unrelated to desegregation. The most common reason for leaving was a search for improved educational quality. Other reasons for leaving were idiosyncratic and diverse. (SM)
