| Abstract | St. Philip's College is the only community college in the nation that is both a Historically Black College (HBCU) and a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The college has a long history of evolving to serve the local population in San Antonio, Texas. Currently, more than 50 percent of St. Philip's students are Latinx, 29 percent are White, and 12 percent are African American or Black (Morris, 2017). St. Phillip's is now one of the colleges in the Alamo Community College District. The college serves 13,500 students. The district includes five community colleges serving over 98,000 students. They offer 300 degrees and certificates. They awarded over 12,000 degrees and certificates in the 2017-2018 academic year.
