Abstract | There is a general feeling of change in primary education in England, in conjunction with the changes to the Ofsted inspection framework (Ofsted, 2019). There is more of a focus on the mental health and wellbeing of children, redeveloping community and reconnecting with nature as part of providing a broad and balanced curriculum. It is so important to nurture the mental health of children and embracing the outdoors is a brilliant way to do this. Life can move at such a fast pace that it is vital to stop and think carefully about what really matters for the future of children: their health, the health of the planet and its wide range of ecosystems and habitats. Kate Sutton shares ways to include environmental studies in primary education and support networks that enable engagement. (ERIC). |
