| Abstract | Individuals with developmental disabilities have been abused, neglected, and maltreated by people that are supposed to be the ones caring for and protecting against danger. These individuals with developmental disabilities rely on others majority of the time to help out with daily tasks, that can be as simple as tuning on a light switch to as difficult as bathing oneself. The people that care for individuals with developmental disabilities are Service Providers. These service providers are supposed to provide personal care and services for these individuals. However, recent studies that have been conducted prove to be the opposite. Individuals with developmental disabilities are being abused, neglected, and maltreated by their service providers. Instead of providing care towards individuals that cannot care for themselves, these providers are abusing these individuals with developmental disabilities, neglecting to keep them healthy and safe, and worst of all, children with developmental disabilities are being maltreated.
