| Abstract | In the 1970s, a person could obtain employment in the United States with little to no high school education, but in 2007, most jobs started to require some form of postsecondary education. This trend continues today. Fewer students are pursuing postsecondary education after graduating from high school. Those without some postsecondary education will find that they are unable to keep up with the demands of job requirements. The purpose of this action research study was to take the former model of the Student 2 Success program, which focused on helping students graduate from high school and obtain employment, and merge it with the College Professional Pathway program, which focuses on increasing students' interest in pursuing postsecondary education. Student 2 Success's overall goal was to form a new course of learning and practice, and establish a system that is collaborative with students, parents, school administrators, and community partners. Such change required a mega-level intervention with a top-down approach that was collaborative in nature. A qualitative analysis of the detailed assessment, evaluation forms, interviews, observations, and literature was used to determine trends and formulate conclusions. The results of the study suggest there is a lack of knowledge and understanding among students related to the preparation required by them to pursue postsecondary education. In addition, the results show the importance of parents, teachers, and policymakers engaging students in discussions about transitioning from high school to postsecondary education early and on a consistent basis.
