Abstract | This book is the third of four volumes in a directory of more than 1,000 discretionary grants and contracts supported by the Research to Practice Division of the Office of Special Education Programs. This volume focuses on projects concerned with technology and media services. These projects are intended to: (1) support educational media activities designed to be of educational value to children with disabilities; (2) provide video description, open captioning, or closed captioning of television programs, videos, or educational materials; (3) distribute captioned and described videos or educational materials; (4) provide free educational materials, including textbooks, in accessible media for visually impaired and print-disabled students in schools at all levels; and (5) provide cultural experiences through appropriate nonprofit organizations, such as the National Theater of the Deaf. Projects are grouped within the specific programs and competitions under which they were funded. Provided for each listing is the following information: grant number, project title, project director, address and other contact information, beginning and ending dates, and an abstract presenting the projects intended purpose, method, and products. Four indexes are provided, including a project director index, an organization index, a state index, and a subject index. (DB) |
