Abstract | This publication consists of four volumes of the evaluation report for a project to provide workplace basic skills education for employees in seven manufacturing companies in New York in partnership with five education agencies. Volume I: "Executive Summary" provides an overview of the evaluation results. Volume II: "Program Goals and Accomplishments" includes a presentation and analysis of findings about the extent to which the project accomplished each goal. The outcomes from individual sites are detailed, and an attempt is made to synthesize these outcomes across sites to present an overall picture of statewide accomplishments. Volume III: "The CICI Model: Vision and Realization" describes the original vision of the Collaborative Learning for Continuous Improvement (CLCI) model and analyzes its strengths, difficulties, and the adjustments made to the vision as the model was implemented over the 3-year period. It concludes with a discussion of what the project learned about workplace education through the experience, lessons that may be helpful for those planning, developing, or thinking about workplace education. Volume IV: "Site Portrayals" provides a detailed picture of each site as a whole, its context, how it implemented the model, what it achieved, and what lessons might be learned from the experiences at that site. This volume is intended to give readers a grounded portrayal of the life of CLCI in its real settings and to enable them to form their own sense of how the model is differently implemented in various contexts.
