Abstract | The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Nutrition Education and Training Program (NET) provides nutrition information and instructional resources for children, parents, educators, and food service personnel. This document describes the evaluation methods of the NET Program in Texas in fiscal year 1991, reports evaluation results, and offers recommendations. Section I provides an executive summary of the evaluation activities. Section II describes the NET Program's outreach activities, including nutrition workshops, a lending library, distribution of instructional materials, and public presentations. Section III discusses the coordination of library services between the NET Program and the Texas School Food Service Association. In section IV, results of the evaluation of the NET Program's Nutrition and Life Sciences workshop are presented. Section V reports on the development of a series of ethnic recipes and a 3-week menu to be used in day care centers and home day care facilities. Section VI reports on the general evaluation of the NET Program. Appendices include the evaluation instruments used in the NET Program, the Nutrition and Life Sciences workshop, and evaluation instruments used in the ethnic recipes and menu project. (BC) |
