| Abstract | This inaugural annual review provides an overview of the research activities and staff of the Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC) Offices of Research and Technical Planning. Information provided for the Office of Research includes the director's statement; photographs and biographical sketches of the Research Advisory Committee; brief summaries and more detailed reports of 13 current research projects, emphasizing electronic delivery mechanisms, access to bibliographic systems, and the application of advanced system technology to information access and delivery; a listing of publications; a listing of presentations and seminars; descriptions and application information for the visiting scholar, postdoctoral fellowship, and research assistant programs; summaries of the 1985-86 Distinguished Seminar Series presentations; and descriptions of collaborative programs and OCLC/Office of Research Funded Programs. The review of the activities of the Office of Technical Planning begins with the director's statement and includes descriptions of three programs concerned with technology assessment, technical standards, and internal consulting, and a listing of publications and presentations. Biographies and photographs of Offices of Research and Technical Planning staff members conclude the report. (KM) |
