| Abstract | Presented are articles originally published in "Science" during 1975-77. This issue is divided into five parts. The first part presents four articles designed to provide an overview of the past, present, and future of electronics. The second part presents twelve articles showing the pervasiveness of electronics in banking and marketing, medicine, communications, research, education, national defense, and industry. The third part discusses some policy problems resulting from the electronic revolution. These include problems of international trade, telecommunication and government regulation, and employment. The fourth part deals with computers, computer networks, microprocessors, and what computers mean to man and society. The last part, Research Frontiers, covers such areas as new memory technologies, fiber optics for telecommunications, and the limits of solid-state electronics. (BB) |
