Abstract | This part of the book provides some interdisciplinary perspectives on the issues of global governance in education. In this part [the author] analyses the globalisation of Finnish educational governance using school-specific performance indicators (SPIs) and their publication as a case in point. As [the author] notes, the publication of SPIs has been a permanent source of controversy in many countries, recently also in Finnland. The Finnish media has been extremely interested in publishing SPIs and related league tables and ranking lists for their significance as news material. In his article [the author] compares the situation in two countries: Finland and Sweden. He examines why Finland has so far published very few school-specific evaluation results concerning comprehensive schooling, and how the comprehensive school is problematized in Finland and Sweden, especially in relation to the publication of SPIs.
