Abstract	In this case study the authors give an overview of the state and circulation of educational information, of the uses of information in the policy decision-making process and on the utilization of education research by policy decision-makers. In the authors' opinion there is an increasingly close link between educationl research, information and policy decision-making in China. This, in their opinion, is partly due to the government's direct leadership and supervision of both the planning and conducting of major educational research and the development of education information centres through financial and adminstrative means. For them, a priority task of educational research institutions is to serve policy makers by conducting applied studies and providing research-based information, while policy makers must base their major decisions on solid, systematically collected research findings.
