Abstract	The paper deals with topical long-term projections of the structure of the labour force in West Germany and their main results and implications. There are distinguished three different macroeconomic approaches to manpower forecasting: econometric forecasts of global manpower demand and projections of labour force potential; structural approaches to manpower demand by sectors, qualifications, and job activities; projections of manpower supply by levels of qualification, including new supply and replacement demand.
