Abstract | This volume contains 11 articles which are agganged into 4 sections: 1) "Cross National Perspectives identifies the policy processes that impact on children's issues in Norway and Canada. These chapters also suggest that Norwegian and Canadian approaches to policy development are different from the process found in the USA. Part 2) State and Local Perspectives has six chapters that focus on the implications of linking local schools and social service in the USA.... Part 3) - The Role of the Universities ... argues that since the university is a central player in the preparation of professionals it is challenged to adjust curriculum to support interprofessional collaboration. The [first] chapter explores credentialing and licensing issues, curriculum development, and practicum sites." The other 3 chapters of part 3 are responses to the first chapter and discuss some particular aspects of the "university-based preparation for collaborative practice". "Part 4) Lessons from the Field focuses on two states - California and Kentucky", and examines the Healthy Start reforms in California and the Kentucky Education Reform Act.
