| Abstract | Recent studies have highlighted the evolving characteristics of multimedia and telematics in Europe and their impact on education and training. However, as Information and Communication Technologies create new industries emerging and evolving from past structures and relationships, these studies have only just begun to construct a picture of the revolution that is taking place both on the supply and demand side of education and training. This presentation starts with the current status and structures of the education and training industry and analyses the evolution of the supply and demand side and how the different traditional and new players, public and private, individuals and organisations, are re-aligning themselves to form new relationships which will be the basis of the education and training industry in the Information Age. In doing so, it seeks to hightlight how these relationships will impact on the complementary skills needs on both sides of the industry in the short and long term.
