Abstract	Within the context of the cultural turn in Translation Studies in the 1990s we observed the incorporation of non-linguistic aspects in the investigation. Today, culture occupies a generally recognized place in Translation Studies. Nevertheless, a lot of questions still remain unresolved in the methodological and conceptual field. Thus, the term is used in a general and inflationary way. Furthermore, we need concrete models which allow us to operationalize the cultural dimension of the texts for the practice and didactics of translation. The present article deals with the complex interrelation between language, culture and translation, with the objective of presenting a theoretic model for the description of the cultural dimension of texts, which also should be applicable to the practice of translation. The author starts from a semiotic definition of text and culture, because semiotics is considered the adequate base for an interdisciplinary and modern perspective on Translation Studies. (Verlag).
