| Abstract | This paper was presented at the European Conference on "Social science information needs and provision in a changing Europe" in Berlin, 1994. The Russian author characterizes "the situation in the sphere of social research and in education as well as tendencies and limitations of social science information provision". The first part of the paper describes the crisis and the beginning of regeneration of social science. She highlights positive features like the emergence of independent research institutions and the formation of a new generation of Russian social scientists. The second part of the paper is dedicated to positive trends and limitations in the field of social science information provision. (DIPF/St.). |
