| Abstract | This contribution summarizes the results of diversity-reflective analyses of three course-books for teaching English as a foreign language (grade 9), focusing on gender, sexuality, people with physical and mental variations and body norms, race and class, all of which are central to a broad concept of inclusion. The corpus of the analyses sonsists of 736 images, focusing on the 350 photos and 108 cartoons that show human beings. While a quantitative analysis considers the representation of these identities, a qualitative analysis allows to draw conclusions about how these coursebooks construct power in terms of visibility, voice and agency. The central question is how these coursebooks offer options for identification to diverse learners, which is of particular interest within a broad concept of inclusion.
