Abstract	Wie sich Schulen im Spannungsfeld von lokaler Einbettung, nationalstaatlicher Funktionalisierung und den Handlungsanforderungen, die aus Gesellschaftsentwürfen der Globalisierung erwachsen, orientieren und pädagogisch-praktisch positionieren, untersuchen die Autorinen in ihrem Beitrag anhand von Rekonstruktionen zu pädagogischen Entwürfen und der schulischen Bedeutung von Austauschprogrammen an zwei Schulen, die sich schulprogrammatisch an Konzepten globalen Lernens ausrichten. Die Autorinnen zeigen unterschiedliche Formen der Transnationalisierung schulischer Bildung in der Verortung der Schulen im Spannungsfeld von lokalen Bedingungen und Internationalisierungsprozessen auf. Dabei wird der Schüleraustausch an beiden Schulen als Kontext der Entwicklung transnationaler Bildungsräume entworfen, womit das Nationale als zentraler Bezugsrahm von Schule bestehen bleibt. In terms of global changes, schools are constantly challenged by the political demand not only to prepare young people for life in a nation-state oriented society, but also to give them the most essential tools and skills to act in a globalized community. Globalization and internationalization have therefore become major issues in political discussions, and are increasingly being adopted in education policy programs and school curricula. Global learning is, aside from education for sustainable development, one of the most important concepts in dealing with these requirements in a didactical way. Beside these curricular changes, internationalization has become a trend in the German educational system, and requires the development of school concepts to deal with topics like migration. Based on two case studies with a focus on the pedagogical conception and importance of exchange programs, this article discusses how schools are dealing with the growing tension between local embeddedness and a globalized society, pointing out the different strategies that each school follows in order to achieve its educational mission in terms of globalization and how freedom of action is being perceived in this context.
