Abstract | The phenomenon of reification was dealt with intensively in the 1920s and 1930s. However, this phenomenon cannot be seen just as a principle of capitalist societies but also as mental thought patterns and structures of consciousness. Responsible for the reification are foremost economic processes of rationalization. According to Lukács (1975) the structure of commodities extends to structures of consciousness and thought patterns which then lead to a damage of the innermost thinking. The article explores the problem of reification in the course of growing economization of education and educational institutions. With the help of empirical data, it is illustrated that signs of reification can be identified in thought patterns and structures of consciousness of teachers. (DIPF/Orig.). |
