(DIPF/Orig.). Reflective learning is related to a social space since how a person sees oneself is socially conditioned. With this in mind, self-reflection in reflective learning processes is to be understood as a public act and not primarily as something "internal" or "non-material" or as private self-contemplation. Thus reflective learning processes as this specific form of (language mediated) learning activity require a public space for action that they concurrently produce and shape. Approaching the topic from the perspective of philosophy, educational theory and adult education in practice and referencing P. Bourdieu, M. Foucault and J. Butler, the author shows how specific reflective practices establish and shape a social space that becomes a learning space when reflection is related to a learning opportunity, learning objective or desired effect. Reflective learning in particular does justice to action and competence-oriented learning that moves back and forth between self-monitoring, education and qualification requirements. Adult educational offerings can significantly contribute to the constitution and design of what are understood to be reflective learning spaces. (DIPF/Orig.). |
