| Abstract | The education of physical education teachers begun in the Czech lands at the turn of the 60s and 70s of the 19th century when this subject gradually became a mandatory part of the school curriculum. When it was first introduced only elementary school teachers were involved, and eventually the education of secondary school teachers of physical education had been added. While elementary school teachers had been taught at secondary school level for a long time, the actual education of high school teachers of physical education has gradually reached a far higher level - university level. During the interwar period, a number of top experts at the then medical faculties guaranteed their studies. Although there had been reform attempts at the time, unfortunately, the education of elementary school teachers remained at the lower professional level. Significant attempt to fix this discrepancy occurred only after 1945. An overview of the development of the school system in the Czech lands is always included in the introductions to the separate parts of this article. (Autor). Pocátky problematiky vzdelávání ucitelu telesné výchovy spadají v ceských zemích do prelomu 60. a 70. let 19. století, kdy se tento predmet stal postupne povinnou soucástí skolní výuky. Zprvu se jednalo hlavne o ucitele základních skol a teprve následne pribylo i zdelávání stredoskolských ucitelu telesné výchovy. Zatímco ucitelé základních skol byli po dlouhá desetiletí vzdelávání stredoskolským zpusobem na ucitelských ústavech, tak vzdelávání stredoskolských profesoru telesné výchovy se postupne dostalo na kvalitativne daleko vyssí - univerzitní úroven. V meziválecném období pak jiz garantovala jejich studium celá rada spickových odborníku pusobících na tehdejsích lékarskych fakultách. Bohuzel vzdelávání ucitelu základních skol zustalo pres radu reformních pokusu i v tomto období na daleko nizsí odbomé úrovni. K významnejsímu pokusu o srovnání této disproporce pak doslo az po roce 1945. Do úvodu i jednotlivých cásti tohoto clánku je vzdy zarazen i prehled vývoje skolské soustavy v ceských zemích.
