Abstract | Based on the data collected from Iranian English language learners and the results of a pilot survey, for the author's ongoing dissertation project focusing on the motivation of Iranian German Language learners, the present study seeks to explore the scope of motivation and "possible selves" in GFL from a comparative perspective by employing th L2 Motivational Self System as the main theoretical framework. First results show that English and German show similar figures regarding the L2 motivation demonstrating an increasing instrumental orientation. A German speaking self has, however, a generally positive attitude towards the German language and society. (Verlag, adapt.). |
