Abstract | With the newly developed KIdB 2010, the Federal Employment Agency for the first time made it possible to mark out and define the environmental professions. In doing so, it created a basis for providing respective statistics on the labour market. "Environmental professions" include all the activities in the areas such as the protection of the environment and resources, climate change as well as sustainable energy technology. The demarcation is based on the KIdB 2010 and summarises the five-digit professions. The statistics of the Federal Employment Agency have a comprehensive data stock which can be used for analysing the area of environmental professions in regard to different aspects of the labour market. Information on professions is available for the employed and unemployed persons, job vacancies and government-funded measures for further education and training, so that there are extensive opportunities for analysis.
