| Abstract | The dynamics of creative potential was estimated based on the analysis of self-rating of value orientations of 5th-year students of the Faculty of Physical Education of Surgut State University. The results obtained provided a new approach to finding ways to improve the educational environment of the university to ensure the conditions of creative self-fulfilment of students, organization of purposeful work not only on development, but also on restructuring of creative potential, adapting it to the challenges of modern society and as a result removal of the tension between it and individual. The researchers applied one of the most accessible and adequate methods of analysis of socialization, which was the method of self-rating and used the Sharov's personal creativity test as a criterion of students self-rated creativity level. On the basis of the number of points each student scored during the survey the level of students' self-rated creativity was determined and creative potential profiles were designed for each course. In addition, thanks to the methodology the priority of personality traits that reflect the level of development of creative potential of athletes was identified, and creative personality types were defined individually, according to the highest level of development of the relevant quality.
