Abstract | A child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a history of aberrant behaviors participated in this study with his mother. The primary purpose of the current study was to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of FCT on decreasing problem behaviors, increasing communication mands, and increasing spontaneous communication with a child with ASD in his home environment. Further, the number and diversity of spontaneous verbalizations were anecdotally recorded. The results of the multiple baseline study across mands demonstrated a dramatic decrease in aberrant behavior while increasing the number of mands and the latency to respond. In addition, the participant's number and diversity of words dramatically increased. (Contains 4 figures.) (Author). |
