Abstract | American Indian stories are a form of medicine and can provide a model of how to deal effectively with life's challenges. Several stories are discussed that offer metaphors for living with an incurable condition such as AIDS and that provide a culturally sensitive means of discussing sexuality, high risk behaviors, and prevention.
