Abstract | Describes how members from 8 "top-20" business schools responded to the 1992 "Business Week" survey rankings of U.S. business schools. Rankings posed a two-pronged threat by challenging perceptions of highly valued, core-identity school attributes and beliefs about their schools' relative standing. Members responded by employing categorization tactics emphasizing their schools' favorable characteristics. (68 references) (MLH) |
