AbstractContaining both theoretical discussions of globalization and specific case analyses of individual African countries, this collection of essays examines the intersections of African education and globalization with multiple analytical and geographical emphases and intentions. The 11 essays critically analyze the issues from historical, cultural, and socio-economic perspectives. Of interest to both educators and scholars who are interested in a more in-depth understanding of the current reign globalization, "African Education and Globalization" is an important and timely read. This book is divided into two sections. Section one presents the following chapters: (1) African Education and Globalization: An Introduction (Ali A. Abdi, Korbla P. Puplampu, and George J. Sefa Dei and Alireza Asgharszeh); (5) Higher Education for Africa's Women: Prospects and Challenges (Philomina E. Okeke); and (6) Globalization, Information Technologies, and Higher Education in Africa: Implications of the Market Agenda (Wisdom J. Tettey).
