| Abstract | This third volume is part of a series of biographies that profile individuals of interest to young people over the age of 9 years. The entries in this volume include Joe Dumars, basketball; Jim Harbaugh, football; Dominik Hasek, hockey; Michelle Kwan, figure skating; Rebecca Lobo, basketball; Greg Maddux, baseball; Fatuma Roba, marathon running; Jackie Robinson, baseball; John Stockton, basketball; Picabo Street, skiing; Pat Summitt, basketball; and Amy Van Dyken, swimming. Each biography contains at least one picture of the individual profiled, and bold-faced rubrics lead to information on birth, youth, early memories, education, first jobs, marriage and family, career highlights, memorable experiences, hobbies, and honors and awards. Each entry ends with a list of easily accessible sources for further reading and a current address. Obituary entries are also included. There are several indexes to provide easy access to entries, including a name index; a general index (occupations, organizations, and ethnic and minority origins); a place of birth index; and a birthday index.
