AbstractThe articles in this publication discuss the identity problem of those educated in organizational communication when they face a job market that does not identify specific roles and positions for their specialty. The publication includes an outline for a course in organizational communication and a list of guidelines for the selection of client organizational and instructional strategy; a description of a multidisciplinary program for preparing professionals in organizational communication; a seminar outline on assessing the organizational communication job market that includes goals, objectives, student paper topics, and an evaluative tool; a model for the analysis of the consultant-client relationship; a discussion of levels of personal interactions between subgroups within an organization; and a report of a needs assessment study conducted to determine the communication needs and activities of a variety of organizations.
