Abstract	This Quinmester world studies elective course for grades 7, 8, and 9, focuses on the comparative study of three far eastern nations: China, India, and Japan. The study examines the successes and failures of each nation in dealing with the common problems of over-population, industrialization, and literacy education, leading to speculation as to which nation is emerging as the leader of the Far East. Through comparison, the student more accurately perceives each culture and analyzes the different means used to solve problems in these cultures which comprise a large portion of the world's population. Following a statement of rationale, a list of course goals, a course outline, and a list of activities, each goal is coordinated with objectives and learning activities. A list of materials contains basic texts, alternate student and class materials, supplemental information for students and teachers, and periodical and journal articles. (KSM)
