Abstract	The study explores physical-education provision and the views of 14-18-year-old Muslim girls in two schools of the Western Cape Province. Issues pertinent to many adolescents arose, such as body consciousness and detrimental health habits, as well as those specific to religious needs that lead to participation resistance. These include inappropriate dress codes, gender organisation, male teachers/coaches and poverty of resources/provision. Instances of racism related to skin colour were also recounted. This is the first such study to be conducted in South Africa and is significant because of an increasing Muslim population and number of Muslim schools. Einleitung (gekürzt).
