Abstract	Until today information about science and chemistry education in Arab countries is still scarce. This study intends to contribute closing this gap. As a starting point and as an exemplary case, this study analyzes grade-10, secondary chemistry textbooks from different Arab countries, e.g. Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait or Saudi-Arabia. The analysis focuses the emphasis of the curriculum and the representation of practical work. Comparisons will try to reveal parallels and differences between various Arab countries. The method of analysis and initial findings will be reported.
