Abstract	The paper is devoted to the results and prospects of development of the oldest in Siberia specialized institution of higher education. Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sport, founded in 1950, became the first specialized institution of higher education in Siberia. During its more than fifty year long history, he has worked its way from Institute of Physical Culture to a modern, fastest growing university. At present, the university operates as one of the leading centers of education and research in the field of physical culture and sport in Russia, CIS and foreign countries. Fulfilling its primary mission of personnel training, a lot of research work is being done in the university, along with research follow-up of leading athletes of the Russian Federation, conditions being created for elite athlete training. Moreover, it is a center of training and skills development. In the study, the author reveals the stages of development of sports university, analyzes the main progress in the training of specialists in physical culture and sport, science and sports life of the country. The author focuses on the formation of scholar schools and training of the teaching staff. A particular attention in the paper is given to analysis of sports results of the best athletes of the university. One of the latest achievements of the university was the victory in the open public All-Russian show-competition of educational institutions of secondary and higher education for the best organization of physical culture and sports activities among students in the 2012/2013 academic year in the category "Best Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education of Russia, providing training in the field of physical culture and sport". Verf.-Referat. Stat'ja posvjascena itogam i perspektivam razvitija starejsego v Sibiri specializirovannogo vyssego ucebnogo zavedenija. Sibirskij gosudarstvennyj universitet fiziceskoj kul'tury i sporta, osnovannyj v 1950 g., stal pervym specializirovannym vyssim ucebnym zavedeniem Sibiri. Za svoju bolee cem poluvekovuju istoriju on prosel put' ot instituta fiziceskoj kul'tury do sovremennogo, dinamicno razvivajuscegosja universiteta. V nastojascee vremja universitet osuscestvljaet svoju dejatel'nost' kak odin iz veduscich centrov obrazovanija i nauki v oblasti fiziceskoj kul'tury i sporta Rossii, bliznego i dal'nego zarubez'ja. Vypolnjaja svoju osnovnuju missiju po podgotovke kadrov, universitet vedet bol'suju naucno issledovatel'skuju rabotu, osuscestvljaet naucnoe soprovozdenie veduscich sportsmenov Rossijskoj Federacii, sozdaet uslovija dlja podgotovki vysokokvalificirovannych sportsmenov, javljaetsja centrom perepodgotovki i povysenija kvalifikacii kadrov. V chode issledovanija avtorom raskryvajutsja etapy razvitija sportivnogo vuza, analizirujutsja osnovnye dostizenija v podgotovke specialistov v sfere fiziceskoj kul'tury i sporta, naucnoj dejatel'nosti i sportivnoj zizni strany. Avtor akcentiruet vnimanie na formirovanii naucnych skol i podgotovke naucno-pedagogiceskich kadrov. V stat'e osoboe mesto zanimaet analiz sportivnych rezul'tatov lucsich sportsmenov vuza. Odnim iz poslednich dostizenij universiteta stala pobeda v otkrytom publicjum Vserossijskom smotre-konkurse obrazovatel'nych ucrezdenij srednego i vyssego professional'nogo obrazovanija na lucsuju organizaciju fizkul'turno-sportivnoj raboty sredi studentov v 2012/2013 ucebnom godu v nominacii "Lucsee obrazovatel'noe ucrezdenie vyssego professional'nogo obrazovanija Rossii, osuscestvljajuscee podgotovku specialistov v oblasti fiziceskoj kul'tury i sporta".
